Alexander

The first references to the Alexander was in 1910 and 1915, both cocktails were vastly different.  In Jack's Manuel of 1910, a cocktail is named Alexander using a combination of Rye Whisky and Benedictine.  Hugo Ensslin in 1915, coined a cocktail called the Alexander which was a combination of Gin, Creme de Cocoa, and Sweet Cream.  Alexanders are also knowned as Princess Mary.  Today, we see many variations of this cocktail: Brandy Alexander subsitutes the Gin for Brandy, Coffee Alexander subsitutes the brandy with coffee liquor, Blue Alexander subsitutes the creme de cocoa with blue Caracua.

Cream based cocktails are truely reserved as dessert style cocktails.  Cream is an appetite killer and a palite closer.  However, these cocktails are not only rich in texture and taste but also very delicious.  

Bartender Collins Recipe

Colorado Bulldog

Tall glass filled with ice

1 ounce Vodka

1 ounce Kaluha

Fill with cream

Splash of coke

 

 

Creamsickle

Bucket glass filled with ice

1 ounce Amaretto

1 ounce orange juice

Fill with cream.

 

Golden Cadilac

Martini glass, frozen

½ ounce Galliano

½ ounce White Crème de Cocoa

2 ounces cream

Shake and strain

½ ounce Galliano

½ ounce of Triple Sec

½ ounce orange juice

1 ounce of cream
