Pousse Cafe

Pousse cafés are a class of cocktails that are largely forgotten these days. The term itself is obviously French, and it means push coffee, or coffee chaser—the idea seems to be that these drinks were introduced as a digestif, or an after-dinner, after-coffee drink to aid digestion.  The ingredients in historic pousse cafés are just what you normally see on after-dinner drinks menus: liqueurs such as crème de cassis, Chartreuse, or Grand Marnier; port; cognac; etc.

B-52

The B-52 (also B52 or Bifi) cocktail is a layered shot composed of a coffee liqueur(Kahlúa), an Irish cream (Baileys Irish Cream), and a triple sec (Grand Marnier). When prepared properly, the ingredients separate into three distinctly visible layers (due to their relative densities).  

 

There are many varietions of the B-52:  

a B-52 with Frangelico hazelnut liqueur rather than Triple Sec 

B-52 with Bomb Bay Doors, a B-52 with Bombay gin

B-52 in the Desert, or a B-52 with a Mexican Tailgunner, a B-52 with tequila rather than Bailey's Irish cream

B-52 with a Full Payload, a B-52 with a 4th layer of Frangelico and a 5th layer of Bacardi 151 rum lit on fire

B-53, a B-52 with Sambuca rather than Irish cream

B-54, a B-52 with Amaretto almond liqueur in place of Triple Sec

B-55, a B-52 with absinthe rather than Triple Sec, also known as B-52 Gunship

B-57, a B-52 with peppermint schnapps rather than Irish cream

1 part Grenadine

1 part Green crème de menthe

1 part Tequila

 

Nuclear Rainbow

1/2 oz Midori Melon Liqueur

1 oz Vodka

1/2 oz Amaretto

1/2 oz Jagermeister

1/2 oz Canadian Whiskey

1/2 oz Rumple Minze

1/2 oz Grenadine

 

Slippery nipple

3/4 oz (22.5 mL) Sambuca

1/4 oz (7.5 mL) Baileys Irish Cream

Drop grenadine

 

 

Tequila Sunrise (cocktail)

2 msr tequila

orange juice
2 dashes grenadine syrup
